A survey on attitudes to truth and relationships found that 19 out of 20 women admit lying to their partners or husbands.
In a poll of 5,000 women (That’s Life! Magazine) 45 percent confessed they told "little white lies" on most days.
Many women lie to avoid hurting their partner’s feelings.
Another survey found that:
The National Scruples and Lies Survey 2004 revealed that lies are told over the Christmas period.
It could be argued that the little white lies simply make the world go round a little more smoothly.
However, the big lies can damage lives.
Men’s lies are more self-oriented, while lies women tell are more other-oriented.
Men tell selfish lies more often than women do. Women lie too, yet sixty-eight percent said they did not trust their partner.
Lying is a slippery slope, and we’re all guilty of finding ourselves in a situation where we feel the need to lie.
Habitual lying is damaging and can affect our wellbeing, relationships, and career.
Couples must create an environment where being truthful is welcomed with understanding.
